Robert H. Tumelty, age 87, a longtime resident of Abington passed away September 10, 2012 at Willow Lake Assistant Living in Willow Grove. Born and raised in Glenside Mr. Tumelty was the son of the late Clement and Maria Adele Tumelty. After attending Cheltenham and Abington High Schools he served in the Navy during WWII. He worked for the US Postal Service in Philadelphia as a letter carrier and later a supervisor. Mr. Tumelty was past President of North Penn VFW Post 676 in Ardsley. He is the beloved husband of Dorothea (Nee Feisel) Tumelty and the loving father of Robert W. Tumelty (Diane) of Doylestown, PA and Virginia A. Swarmer (Neal) of Wernersville, PA. Grandfather of 6; Wendy Tumelty, Robert W. Tumelty, Jr., Michael, (Laura) Tumelty, Jennifer (Nathaniel) Gabel, Christopher Swarmer and Shannon (Thomas) McCurdy and great grandfather of Connor Gabel and Aidan and Fiona McCurdy. He is the brother of Thomas and Claire Tumelty and the late James, William, Joseph and Adele.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday 9:30 am at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 1500 Marian Rd. Abington, PA 19001 where a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions to above church’s memorial fund would be appreciated.
