Ellen  Salama (O'Driscoll)
Ellen Salama (née O’Driscoll), loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully Thursday the 13th of October at the age of 81.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Ezzeldin Salama of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania; her children Donald Salama of St. Petersburg, Florida; David (Lori) Salama of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Karen (Damon) McCain of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Morgan, Colin, Ben and Nolan Salama and Vaughn, Amina, and Aurora McCain as well as her many loving siblings from the O’Driscoll family originally from County Cork, Ireland.

Ellen was born on August 18, 1935 on Sherkin Island, Ireland to Daniel and Bridget O’Driscoll. She obtained a degree in Nursing in London where she met her husband, Ezzeldin, at Barnet General Hospital. Together, they moved to Michigan and later Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they settled for many years raising a family.

Ellen led a life full of travel, living alternately in Ireland, the US, and Mexico. She devoted herself to caring for her family. She is remembered by all who knew her as an exceptionally gentle, kind, loving, and elegant woman. Her playful nurturing will be greatly missed.

A funeral is scheduled for Monday October 17, 2016 at 10:00am at the George Fitzpatrick Funeral Home in Abington, Pennsylvania. Her burial will follow at Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge. A reception will follow at the McCain residence. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ellen’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Alzheimer’s Foundation (alz.org). The family would like to thank The Hillcrest Nursing Home in Elkins Park for their diligence and tender care for the last several years.
